Mr. Meiler is responsible for a global team of data stewards, data analysts, data scientists, product and project managers who are managing a broad range of data assets and realizing multiple analytical use cases. These use cases include IoT data analytics, service process and asset optimization, and sales enablement.
Dr. Appel is head of the analytical services group in Siemens Healthineers’ customer services organization. He is responsible for a global team of data scientists, who are realizing and operating a broad range of analytical use cases, including IoT data analytics, service process and asset optimization, or sales enabling.
When our health is at risk, we rely on physicians to make the best possible decisions – from quick, early diagnoses to the most effective treatments and follow-ups. By constantly bringing breakthrough innovations to market, Siemens Healthineers help healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care, leading to the best possible outcome for patients.
Siemens Healthineers’ portfolio of products, services, and solutions is at the center of clinical decision-making and treatment pathways. Patient-centered innovation has been and always will be at the core of the company. Siemens Healthineers aspire to create better outcomes and experiences for patients no matter where they live or what they are facing.
Data scientists and business analysts are emphasizing asset optimization through predictive maintenance to improve up-time in Siemens Healthineers’ equipment. This allows Siemens Healthineers to provide efficient service delivery for physicians and hospitals.
By continuing to ingest state of health data from equipment installed around the globe, Siemens Healthineers aims to have the right answer before the customer calls, even fully understanding the maintenance procedure before sending technicians with the appropriate parts. This has led to an increase in customer satisfaction through both operational efficiency and quality in clinical diagnosis. To further expand their service offerings, Siemens Healthineers creates new service bundles that are more in line with customer needs and healthcare provider’s expectations.
“By transforming our data assets into concrete actions for our global service organization, we reduce the extent of technical expertise needed to maintain a system. We avoid first-level onsite troubleshooting, optimize the service delivery process, and we minimize productivity losses from downtime situations for our customers.”
Stefan Meiler, Head of Data Governance & Analytical Services
“Transforming data into value requires multiple development iterations while leveraging innovative, scalable, and easy-to-use technologies. Our data stewards are transforming a wide variety of data assets into curated, “single point-of-truth” datasets.
On top of these datasets, our data analysts develop dashboards to create transparency on our global installed base and service operations, while our data scientists are leveraging this transparency to automate data-driven services by applying artificial intelligence.
Teradata Vantage on Azure enables us to accelerate all of these iterations while providing a fast, reliable, and scalable backbone within our global organization.”
Dr. Mirko Appel, Head of Analytical Services
Teradata Vantage on Azure allows Siemens Healthineers to aggregate this global data for data scientists and business analysts to identify trends. They use machine learning to develop models to constantly understand maintenance trends, service part errors, training issues, faulty supplier parts and to improve their services offerings.
“The application of pattern recognition algorithms on machine data has transformed our service delivery towards a pro-active approach: we are now able to identify certain system failures up to 21 days before they have an impact on the machine’s performance. By this we can increase the efficiency of our service delivery significantly and our customers are pleased with more valuable uptime to deliver care to patients. Win-win for everyone: Siemens Healthineers, our customers and the patients.”
